It’s the last weekend of July and finally summer in ALL parts of Canada. Our interns tell us Vancouver is finally getting in on some heat action, that TO has been hoggin the past few months. To celebrate, we dug up some beautiful photos, post Stanley Cup…and the issues that occurred, by Vancouver local, Alexis Jackson. A lot of ♥ took place after that incident, and this photographer decided to document just that. So go out and enjoy the sun and beautiful weekend!! xx - Shoppalu
I think we’re gonna be seeing quite some colour this Fall. Footwear is the perfect area to bring out the colour-blocking we’ve seen since Spring. Keep in mind, colour-blocking doesn’t need to be high heels only.

Wearing black tights will make the colour of your shoes pop. Wearing colourful tights will really make a statment.
Get warm colour, Autumn-esque flats to ease yourself into the crazier statement pieces
Getting shoes with black as a main colour will make the shoe easier to transition to night
She was shocked/surprised, that we wanted to take her pic. Apparently she had no make up on. I gotta say, she looks pretty f***in good for no make up. And rockin that maxi.

And this is how you mix prints. Frances’ quilted black Chanel bag ties it together by bringing out the darker colours in her dress and shoes. The shades give this look a definite sort of edge.
We found Nicole on her way to a wedding. This look is casual but classy at the same time. Her elephant pendant and floral-patterned tights gave this outfit extra spunk.

We are all so visual today. Reading more than 150 letters is difficult to many. Pictures, it is then. We’ve started scouring Canadian streets for stylish people, so don’t be surprised if one of our street wear team members approaches you ♥
This old trick in the book is a classic. It’s easy to wear, fun to pair up, and slims you down, despite a lack of black. We took inspiration from Gucci SS 2011 and of course, Jil Sander, the colour-blocking power house, for our September look book! As Alexia, our head of creative would say, colour-blocking is as fun as “fruit loops”.

Colour-blocking has been trending for a while now, but Gucci SS 2011 turned up the ante, so we guess it’s here to stay!

I always envy the girls who can pull off the socks and sandals look. They make it look so effortless and easy that I’m always fiendishly trying to find the perfect pair of socks in my sock drawer. We’ve put together a few images of our fav ways to wear this ensemble, high heels or not, these ladies give this look a good name.
I never miss an opportunity to pay tribute to the supers, especially one as legendary as IMAN!
With either an abundance of jewelry or nothing at all, she is style (and her husband’s all right too!)

We love BIG jewelry. We love how when you’re wearing jewelry this big, it can be paired with an even louder ensemble, or a toned down outfit. Either or, the jewels will make the fashion statement for you. ♥

Summer often evokes certain images. Bikinis, heat, ice cream and of course, skirts. Back in the 50s and 60s, skirts had to be below the knee. But the skirts of today all vary in length. These varying skirt lengths give the summer style of today an edge that make us covet each and every look worn by these beautiful ladies.
African jewelry has recently become more and more substantial in the fashion world. We are bringing in a line of hand made pieces from Kenya come Fall, and thought this little blog post as the perfect introduction. x
A pair of palazzo pants/wide-leg culottes I have in my closet. Suprisingly versatile, with the comfort of wide-leg trousers and the timeless look of a long pleated skirt. I break these out for the really chic dinners and events.
