This week, we show you how to put together the cocoon look. Included in this look is the Press Over Sized Winter Berry sweater (on SALE, so get on it). This sweater has gotten me through some short winter days and long winter nights, friends. Throw it over a Peter Pan collared shirt or a sequin top and you’ve got yourself an outfit that says “Not only am I cozy and warm, but I look cuter than you.” Hopefully, you don’t act as conceited as this outfit sounds, though.
Also, wear it with some lace-up or Chelsea boots OR (SCREAM!) these fabulous Matiko STUDDED. *gasp* SNAKESKIN. *gasp* LOAFERS. I know, these shoes are too much goodness in one pair.
You can also rock the vibrant Jil Sander cocoon (now on sale, hollaaaa) with some vibrant African clay bracelets from Shoppalu. They’re actually from Kenya and you can act all worldly when you wear them. Complement the vibrant colours from your giant cocoon dress and the clay bracelets with these LOVELY jade earrings from Eles that will make the sparkle in your eye appear as if it’s dancing. And you didn’t think that was possible.
Don’t forget to accessorize with a vintage bag of some kind - here we’ve chosen this tan metal clasp wallet which doubles as a clutch that will fit your phone and your credit cards, which is really all you need. Add some brooches and a ring - preferably of a caterpillar and of a butterfly to show the circle of life or whatever (caterpillar —> cocoon —> beautiful butterfly).
So right before the Holidays, we contacted Alyssa from the Ordinary People. This is by far one of the coolest blogs in Canada right now. They don’t get attention by putting others down or giving their opinion where it’s not needed. Rather, this blog is just an awesome collab between Alyssa and her cousin, Kurtis. They photograph outfits each like to wear and let me tell you how refreshing it is to see that fish tale skirt worn outside of a warm climate like LA. So take a peek at what Alyssa answered to our usual questions and check out their blog here.
Q. How long have you been blogging for? What made you start?
A. I’ve been blogging since July of this summer—so around 5 months! In regards to what made me start, just looking at other bloggers and the way they were able to creatively express both themselves and their love for fashion really pushed me to start blogging myself!

Q. How would you describe your aesthetic?
A. I’ve never been good at describing anything, least of all myself. As for my aesthetic, I’m not quite sure how to describe it! I never follow specific trends and only really dress the way I feel most of the time. It really does change! As of recently, I’ve been wearing the vintage-inspired skirt/cardigan combination mixed in with some grunge-inspired outfits as well.
Q. Your perfect outfit consists of?
A. My perfect outfit is anything that makes me feel confident and eccentric. And at the moment, that outfit would be a pair of black chelsea boots, a cross-body fringe leather bag, some high-waisted shorts, a crop top, and a knit sweater. Throw in some jewelry and a handful of bracelets/rings, and voila!

Rhianna stole the fashion icon tribute spot this week for two reasons: her daring sense of fashion and her ever-changing hairstyles. She captivates us every time she makes a public appearance and appears on a magazine cover. Not only does she push the boundaries in fashion but also with her music. “RiRi” recently knocked Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night” out of the #1 spot as the most viewed video by a female musician on Youtube. And now the question is…will she steal Gaga’s throne as Fashion Icon of the year in 2012?

One thing we have noticed about Kristy from Monochromachic is her ability to wear items across the different seasons. Most of us pack away our summer skirts and dresses in the winter. Kristy doesn’t do that. Take some tips from Kristy and wear your summer pieces right through…

1. How long have you been blogging for? What made you start?
I’ve been blogging for 1 ½ year. At the beginning I just wanted to share my photos, but after a year or so fashion became an interest and took over the blog, haha.
2. How would you describe your aesthetic?
Hmm.. The looks that I “create” actually just pops up in my head when I see one piece of clothing. I’m kind of random when it comes to clothes, it does not have to be extremely modern for me to wear it. I like to wear different things everyday just because I like to change and always be in moving in some direction.

3. Your does perfect outfit consists of?
A perfect outfit Is a outfit where you feel comfortable in, but in the same time you feel like you’re looking good and that the clothing you’re wearing represents you.
4. A Fall/Winter trend you can’t live without……
Sparkly clothes, love it. Feel like I’m a queen ;)
5. What’s one thing on your bucket list you have to do?
This whole lookbook/blogging thing has giving me a lot to do. During the Christmas holiday, I don’t have any school stuff that I need to do, but I have 5-6
trainings a week and when I open my mailbox in the mornings I can have 10 unread mails. Of course I’m glad about it but It kind of stresses me out, so I should
actually take it more peacefully, relax and do other things like just go out and photograph.
“La Havas’s musical ascent, on the other hand, is going very well. Two years ago, the 22-year-old had only just begun playing small acoustic sets near her home in southwest London, but in the past year she’s toured the United States with Bon Iver, released two EPs (one with folk wunderkind Willy Mason), and received a spot on the 2012 BBC Sound Poll—a list of promising up-and-comers, which is often considered a precursor to mainstream success. ”
- words by Freddie Campion for Vogue
