Over the past few weeks we’ve been keeping a close eye on the various fashion weeks that have taken place internationally. From New York to Paris, and everywhere in between, we’ve been compiling what we believe to be next seasons hottest trends. Better to start thinking earlier rather than later, right? After doing so, we’ve have compiled a list of eight of our favourite trends that we’ve seen on the runway for Fall 2013. Take a look below to see what our Fall 2013 fashion trends are.
Alexander Wang, Chanel, DKNY, Gucci
Next season we can expect to see a whole lot of “Boxy Outerwear”. Perfectly Ideal for the colder months as they leave room for being practical and layering underneath. A very 60’s vintage inspired trend.
Oscar de La Renta, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Reed Krakoff
Move over black! Gray has become the new neutral for Fall 2013! Using different shades and fabrics of gray and compiling the perfect outfit head to toe, looking chic this fall will be no issue.
Ann Demeulemeester, Calvin Klein, Hermes
This fall you can easily make a huge statement by wearing a leather top. This is a great alternative to bring a bit of a harder edge into your wardrobe without going over the top.
Oscar de La Renta, Ralph Lauren, The Row, Victoria Beckham
The “Luxe Tux” is a great way to wear a suit while still looking feminine and sexy. With a variety of different ways to style a nice jacket and pant, this trend leaves room for interpretation allowing you to find what works best for you. From a vintage look to a modern look, this is perfect for Fall 2013.
Mulberry, Saint Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria Beckham
“Modern Plaid” is a great update to the regular (sometimes farmer) looking plaid that we’re used to seeing. From smaller scales to larger ones, this trend will definitely help you stand out and looking fashionable.
Christian Dior, Moschino, Vera Wang
We’ve seen the “Peplum” trend for the past couple seasons, and we are definitely not complaining. This trend is fun, flirty, and feminine. It has been revamped in various ways for Fall 2013 and we couldn’t be more excited.
Emporio Armani, J. Mendel, Ralph Lauren, Tadashi Shoji
The “Velvet Dress” is going to be the perfect Holiday Look this season. We can already feel is. This trend brings the perfect vintage feel and flair that we love in fashion. From long to short, we cannot wait to be rocking this come fall.
Gareth Pugh, Vanessa Bruno, Victor & Rolf
A great, simple trend for Fall 2013 is wearing White on top and black on bottom. This trend leaves a tremendous amount of work for every fashionista to bring their own spin to it and make it work. This will definitely be our “go to”!

We hope you had a lovely weekend fashion lovers! We’re back to introduce you to another member of the Shoppalu team!
This week, we introduce you to Samantha. Take a look below at how she answers some questions about herself, her contribution to the site, vintage clothing, and Canadian fashion.

1. What is your role as being a part of Shoppalu?
I am currently a Junior Buyer and Online Associate director at Shoppalu.com. I write the blogs, and assist in choosing merchandise that is picked to go on the website.
2. How did you get involved with Shoppalu?
I was introduced to Janice by one of my good friends, and we hit it off immediately.
3. What do you enjoy most about working with Shoppalu?
I love seeing the history within each piece of vintage clothing that is found. Being able to take a look at a piece of clothing and see which era it originated from and how we can incorporate it into modern day fashion is quite intriguing.
4. If you could choose one period of fashion to go back in time to and experience, which would you choose?
Without a doubt you would find me in the late 1960’s to the early 1970’s. Everything about that time period just puts a smile on my face. The fashion that originated from that time speaks to me the most, and the political movements, music, and people of the era are just the icing on top of the cake.
5.What do you consider one staple piece that you currently have in your closet?
Definitely my dads vintage Gucci watch that I just recently discovered. Now that I’ve found it and have begun wearing it day to day, I can’t imagine ever parting with such a classic, timeless piece.
6. Who would you say is your fashion icon?
Without a doubt I’d have to say Cara Delevingne. Her ability to mix hard and soft forms of fashion is just outstanding. She is stunning and I consider her a fashion chameleon in the fact she has the ability to not stick to just one aesthetic.
7. Which fashion house do you admire most?
This is a tough question. I have such an admiration for a variety of designers. I love Chanel, naturally, for the simple and classic look.
8. If you could describe your style in just a couple of words, what would you say?
Classically edgy.

COLOURBLOCKING!
One of our favouritest trends this year, colour blocking is for the woman who loves to play with colour and one just isn’t enough. Earlier this week we showed you how to limit the colours you use in your colour blocking efforts, which is the key to getting this look done right. A simple way to work the trend is to incorporate it in your accessories. Luckily, this isn’t the trend’s first time up to bat, as with all good trends, what goes around comes around and colour blocking was huge in the 80s and 90s - and we have the pumps to prove it! Only Chanel could do a cream and navy colour block so well .. and of course the Italians like these mustard eyelet detailed colour block pumps or these black and taupe pumps.
Other ways you can incorporate multiple colours into your outfit is through a fun pair of earrings or to add one of Rebecca Minkhoff Maria bags.
Don’t forget to play up your features with colourful make up - after all, the traditional make up palette has never abandoned the colour blocking trend.
